How lawyers join a firm
Any lawyer can join a verified firm, but each lawyer can only belong to one firm at a time. There are three ways to request membership.
Depending on the firm's settings, your request may be auto-accepted or it may land in the owner's approval queue. You'll receive an email either way.
Three ways to request membership
- **Invite code** — enter the 8-character code a firm admin shares with you. Codes expire after 7 days.
- **Email invitation** — click the link in a direct invitation email. These are single-use and locked to your address.
- **Direct request** — from the firm's public page, click "Request to join". Owners see the request in their dashboard.
While your request is pending
You'll see a "Pending approval" badge on your firm page. You can't yet appear on the firm's member list, take bookings under the firm's name, or access firm-wide resources like shared policies and branding.
If nothing happens within 14 days, the request auto-expires. You can submit a new one or try a different firm.
A lawyer can only belong to one firm at a time. To join a new firm, you must first leave your current one from the firm management page.
For firm owners and admins: approving requests
Pending requests appear in a card at the top of your firm dashboard. Click **Approve** to add the lawyer to your firm, or **Reject** to decline the request.
Approved members gain access to firm branding, shared policies, and (depending on firm policy) firm-wide delegation and visibility settings.
Rejecting a request
Rejected lawyers receive a polite email letting them know the request wasn't accepted. They can submit a new request to a different firm — you don't block them from LeyApp itself.
What happens after approval
The new member sees your firm on their profile, their bookings start attributing to the firm (for aggregate visibility policies), and they can use any receptionist or delegation permissions you've enabled. You can change their role or remove them at any time.
