"On behalf of" transparency
Why LeyApp shows a banner when someone else manages a booking for your lawyer.
Last updated: April 21, 2026
What the banner means
Lawyers can delegate booking management to trusted assistants — for example a paralegal, a firm receptionist, or an external accountant handling payments. When a delegate takes an action on your booking (confirming, rescheduling, replying), LeyApp shows an amber "on behalf of" strip identifying both the delegate and the lawyer who authorized them.
The lawyer named on your booking remains your legal counsel at all times. The delegate is simply coordinating the logistics under the lawyer's authority.
This transparency is required by the Spanish bar's 2021 professional ethics code (EGAE 2021), which states that clients must always know who is acting and on whose authority.
Where you'll see it
- On your booking detail page when a delegate has modified the booking
- On chat messages sent by a delegate on the lawyer's behalf
- On the sponsorship review page if a firm or organization is handling the approval
- In email notifications, with the delegate's name and role clearly called out
Who is legally responsible
The lawyer, always. Delegates cannot give legal advice, sign agreements, or substitute for the lawyer in any regulated act. They handle scheduling, admin, and routine communications under the lawyer's supervision.
Privacy for delegates
Delegates only see what the lawyer has granted via permissions (calendar, bookings, availability). They never see chat message content, case files, or payment details unless explicitly authorized.
